My Life Principles

I was reading from the website i always go too, Briankim.net. It always never fails to have very inspiring stories about life, and every time i read it, it always broadens my opinions and makes me explore my deepest emotions. One of the articles was an interview with someone who succeeded in what he set out to do. I loved some of the things he said and i made my own conclusions.

1) He found out what he loved to do. His true desire, his true passion. He knew what he wanted and he knew why. Now it was just about the how? He asked himself what things he wanted in life and what he could see himself doing for his life.

2) He actually stumbled upon his choice of desire, he did not know at that time what exactly he wanted in his life, but what he did know was he hated memorizing and regurgitating. He knew he wanted a challenge, something that allows him to be himself out there. He did not want to be monotonous. He related his character to his choice in life.

3) Then he decided he cant achieve his goal in his current circumstance. He had to pack his bags and leave, with no guarantees. No plans. Just truckloads of faith. All he knew is that he had to make it, no matter what. So he took that leap of faith and burned all his bridges back.

-very brave. and very very true to achieving your goals.

4) When things got very tough personally and financially, he lived on his own words of encouragement and other sources of inspiration. He had his own journal, which he referred back, and he had his sister. His two lyrics of encouragement-

I live in the hope for another day;
That the next will be better than the last

Cultivate desire
Develop focus
Winners never quit
Quitters never win.

5) He got very very lonely and homesick, but he knew he had to stay on. Because this is what he chose, and if he gives up now it will all be a wasted effort.

"I have the belief that i control the direction of my life. I believe that the things i do today affect my quality of life tomorrow. So, I began doing one thing every day to make it better and more productive than the last, and also planned how to make tomorrow better then today."

6) He stuck with his belief. He started to focus and get back on track.

7) He looked at his character, and realized his character also made him stay on track. He was determined not to fail and prove everybody right. He refused to believe he cant make it. He believed in himself in full faith.

8) He made it. His finance was suppose to run up by Feb 2007. He secured his dream job on January 29 2007.

His words of advice-

"Have commitment. Once you decide what you want, chart your course and do not steer away from it. It is appropriate to alter your route along the way, but it is not appropriate to alter your final destination. Otherwise, you second guess yourself, and it can be paralyzing."

"Intension manifestation is real. If you consume yourself with one goal and work towards it, little by little, day by day, it will happen. Thats just the way things work. Conversely, you cant shoot for too many goals at once; nothing will get accomplished. You also cannot alter course; that renders your previous efforts a waste."

"I've also learned that I've made sacrifices to get here."

"These sacrifices are worth it because I've accomplished what I set out to do. I am happy knowing that I have continued moving down a path that i feel is right for me."

"I’m always reevaluating where I’m at and what I’m doing. You can’t ever let yourself to get comfortable or else life becomes boring and stagnant."

"I would also recommend discovering your purpose in life and using that to drive you to find what you love to do. It is fundamental to know this before you find what you love to do. What you do must support your life’s purpose."

"Commit to accomplishing just one thing a day, no matter how small. The goals will grow larger naturally, but you must learn to spend time with it everyday. Sustained effort is 90% of the fight. If it is what you love to do, it will slowly consume you until that is all you think about and do. This is the place you want to reach."

"When you find your life’s purpose, it will guide you in ways unimaginable. Life will always bring you to a crossroads, where a decision will irreversibly impact your course. Knowing one’s life purpose makes that decision easier. It becomes your compass and keeps you pointed in the right direction. It helps manage the anxiety associated with these crossroads and squelches your second guessing thoughts."
