Mistakes
Mistakes. we all make it, we all go through the series of formidable emotions related to it, and we all definitely know the aftermath of mistakes all too well.
in life, we all make mistakes, no matter how conscious we are, how frugal, how calculated, how measured, how dignified, making mistakes in life is unavoidable and inevitable. so why do we fear this action, why do we dread it, why do we do everything we can to avoid it? its becos society demands us to. make a mistake and you're considered stupid or bad or whatever you wanna call it. society makes us fear mistakes, it makes us feel powerless. but i think otherwise.
it sounds very cliche, but with great power comes great responsibility. and when i say power, i dont mean being able to hurl from one building to another on a web spun out from your wrist, neither do i mean being able to run around the world in 0.746339 seconds, nor do i mean being able to fly in the skies to patrol for baddies in dark alleys. no, i refer to everyday life. everyday decisions. i refer to human nature, and human emotions.
life to me is a never-ending journey full of opportunities waiting to be discovered. this line misses out one thing, it forgot to mention, mistakes are a crucial part of discovering opportunities. i never believed that opportunities just fall from the sky, maybe there are some very lucky people that are blessed with money and other great things. but these very same people miss out on life's opportunities becos they are skipped in the process of discovering. by being given everything without the need to work for something, they do not have that ability to search, to go through life and discovers its surprises. they are robbed of these discovery process. and so needless to say, these are the very same people who do not make any major mistakes, but before you throw your hands up in the air in desperation and envy, take a second to see the bigger picture. becos they do not make mistakes, they do not discover. many many opportunities are actually mistakes in disguise. opportunities cant be found just like that, it has to be searched for, it has to be discovered.
a good friend of mine once told me, there are three kinds of people:
1) People who watch and learn from the mistakes of others and do their very best not to repeat those kind of mistakes in their lives
2) People who make mistakes, plenty of mistakes but learn each and everytime, and dont repeat them
3) People who makes mistakes, plenty of mistakes but never ever learn from any of them.
I fall in number 2 category.
though i have made many and plenty mistakes in my life, they've all been milestones in my life. they've all guided me, and shown me, allowed me to discover so many hidden opportunities. thus i learn, and i become very knowledgeable and very capable. of cos i still fear making a mistake one day so grand that it cant be learned from or causes permanent damage to me or people around me, but no matter what there's always a lesson learnt in every mistake made.
and so eventhough i sometimes feel i am being taken for granted at work due to fact that i have proven to be very capable. i try my best to be mistake-free and error-free. i have done so much work, maybe the work load of 2-3 people, and i can still go on. most people feel inferior to my stamina of working and studying. but i know i do best. i do my best each and everytime. and at first i really thought showing my greatness and capability was a mistake. becos now i'm being taken for granted. but if i look at the bigger picture, i discovered and i learned so much more about myself. i set my boundaries and my limitations. thus i never give up, and i am always ready to try something new. trust yourself, and if you make a mistake, look for the lesson, opportunity or blessing in it. you'll never go wrong there.
